Position Title: Golden Age Center Director

Department: Golden Age Center

Reports To: Executive Director

Status: Full-Time, Exempt

Location: 510 S 500 W, Vernal, Utah

Pay Range: $62,400 – $72,800 per year (DOE)

Uintah Health Care Special Service District is seeking an experienced and compassionate professional to serve as Golden Age Center Director.

This position is responsible for the implementation and management of established District policies and programs at the Golden Age Center. The Director provides verifiable leadership and management of staff, volunteers, and services designed to enrich the lives of older adults throughout Uintah County.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a proven ability to lead teams, manage budgets, oversee daily operations, ensure compliance with state and federal aging program standards, case management and maintain a welcoming, inclusive environment for senior residents.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Administer and oversee established District policies and procedures for Golden Age Center operations.
  • Provide verifiable leadership in supervising, training, scheduling, and evaluating staff and volunteers.
  • Direct daily activities including congregate and home delivered meal services, recreational, educational, and social programs.
  • Manage budgets, monitor expenditures, and ensure fiscal accountability per District guidelines.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable aging and nutrition service standards, food safety, and sanitation requirements.
  • Maintain accurate program records and prepare reports for the District, state, and federal partners.
  • Promote the Golden Age Center through community outreach, communications, and public relations.
  • Coordinate services with other agencies and organizations serving older adults.
  • Oversee facility cleanliness, safety, and readiness for operations.
  • Support grant-related activities as assigned.
  • Perform related duties as directed by the Executive Director.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Demonstrated and verifiable leadership and management experience in a professional or public service setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively upward to management, providing honest, clear, concise updates, insights, and recommendations.
  • Knowledge of senior services, aging programs, or community recreation/human services operations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills including the ability to report progress, challenges, and solutions to the Executive Director and board in a professional manner.
  • Strong supervisory, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Comfortable and proficient at engaging in upward communication, ensuring the Executive Director is informed of key developments and team needs.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple programs and maintain program quality and compliance.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Competence with basic computer applications (Microsoft Office Suite, email, scheduling tools, etc.).
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, use sound judgment, and work independently.
  • Physical ability to assist with event setup and lift up to 30 pounds occasionally.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree in a related field (social services, recreation, public administration, gerontology, or management) preferred but not required with verifiable experience.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of verifiable leadership and management experience, including direct supervision of staff or volunteers.
  • Experience in senior services or community programming strongly preferred.
  • Valid Utah driver’s license and acceptable driving record required.

Work Environment

This position operates primarily in a community center environment. Some evening or weekend work may be required for programs or events. The position involves standing, walking, bending, and occasional lifting associated with Center activities.
